This field of dentistry works to avoid cavities, gum diseases, tooth loss and more. With today’s diet and lifestyle the susceptibility to oral diseases have increased but the advancements in dentistry has made the treatment of such problems easier.
Children and young adults benefit from preventive dentistry the most as the oral problems can be identified and treated effortlessly.
Pit and Fissure Sealant: Sealants are a safe way to prevent tooth decay and are applied in deep fissures and the back of the tooth. The protective barrier of the sealant prevents cavity formation.
Fluoride application : Fluoride application prevents cavity formation and strengthens the teeth. At our clinic we follow the process pit and fissure sealant application and provide fluoride gel trays (if needed) to prevent tooth decay. These treatment options are regularly advised to our patients on a routine oral health visit.
Prevention of gum disease: A simple, less invasive routine professional cleaning procedure removes plaque deposits and maintains healthy teeth and gums. It is recommended to get a professional cleaning done every 6 months.
Prevention of teeth crowding:
Serial extraction– Specific deciduous are extracted to allow the erupting permanent teeth into position. This procedure is usually recommended around 8-9 years and prevents the possibility of future crowding.
Space maintainers– To allow the space for permanent teeth, space maintainers ( custom- made appliance) are fabricated for erupting permanent teeth. Early loss of milk teeth can occur as a result of cavity, trauma and early shedding of the milk teeth. In order to prevent the movement of the adjacent teeth, a preventive appliance such as a space maintainer is provided.
